It was also a troubled land, and the divisions of Light and Dark were tearing it apart. The origins of the conflict lay even deeper in the shadows of time, with the coming of the Triforce and the greed of Ganondorf, King of Thieves. In the Golden Land, where it was placed by the creators of the world, the Triforce beckoned to people. Ganon and his band of thieves long searched for the secret entrance to the Golden Land, eventually stumbling upon it. Then Ganon defeated his fellows for possession of the Triforce. In a period known as the Imprisoning War, the King of Hyrule brought seven wise men together to seal the door to the Golden Land, for Ganon's evil power had been spilling forth, causing a corruption and darkness. The once peaceful land became a place of dreadful rumors of the coming of a magical enemy. At this time the Master Sword was forged, but there was no hero valiant enough to wield it.Before the wise men could seal off the Golden Land and the Triforce, Ganon's army surged into Hyrule and besieged the castle. The Knights of Hyrule fought heroically, but the Triforce of Power controlled their enemies, giving them inhuman strength. The battle raged back and forth through the gate. Many foes fell in the tide of battle, but too many Knights also were lost. It seemed that they were beyond hope. Then, at the end of the day, the wise men finally succeeded in blocking the door to Ganon's Realm. With the power of their master removed, the enemies fled or threw themselves into the moat. Hyrule was saved and over the years the Golden Land, which then became known as the Dark World, faded from the memory of people. The people of Hyrule may have forgotten about the Dark World, but the master of that evil land had not forgotten about Hyrule. Ganon brooded in his prison, surrounded by reminders of his fall. He grew ever more bitter as the dark years passed like the wailing of cold winds on a winter's night. Ambition burned in his eyes. He would find a way to wreak vengeance and claim total power. Many centuries passed with Ganon and the Triforce safely locked away. Then the disasters began: plague, drought, quakes, and fire. The King sought sage advice and a wizard named Agahnim stepped forth and ended the strange disasters. He became a powerful advisor to the King, but he kept his true plans to himself. It seemed like a Golden Age, but it wouldn't last.Once Agahnim had consolidated his power, he began to abuse it. First to fall victim were the ancestors of the seven wise men. The wizard imprisoned six maidens in crystal cocoons and they were never seen again. Then Princess Zelda herself was taken as she sent a telepathic plea into the night. The Hylian gift that enabled Zelda to send her message also allowed Link to hear.Having received Zelda's message, Link felt compelled to save her, but his uncle forbade him to leave the house. Link's uncle thought that the lad's courage outweighed his common sense, yet he knew something had to be done to save Zelda. Turning away from Link, he gripped his sword. He knew a secret entrance into the castle, although he didn't know the way out.Link couldn't tell how much time had passed since his Uncle had left - a minute? an hour? The only thing he knew was that Zelda had spoken to him. He had to help her! Taking a lamp to light his way, Link stepped into the lashing rain and headed toward the castle. As Link floundered about in the storm, he heard a second telepathic message from Zelda telling of a secret route into the castle. When he found the entrance, he also found his uncle inside, wounded and unable to carry on. Link took his Uncle's sword and promised to return. Then the great quest began... Hyrule Castle: First Visit HOW TO ENTER HYRULE CASTLE To find the secret passage into Hyrule Castle, go right along the outside of the castle from its main gate, then go up to the tree at the end. Use the ancient Book of Mudora on the tablet to read the tablet's inscription and open the door to the palace. TIPS FOR THIS PALACE If you need to get a key from the top of a post, use the Pegasus Shoes to dash into the post to knock the key down. If you reach a room that appears to be a dead end, try lighting all the torches with your Lamp to make an opening appear. DIRECTIONS TO THE BIG KEY The Big Key is in the top-right room in the first basement of the Desert Palace. To find it from the palace entrance, walk up to the top of the main area and go up through the fourth door from the right. To defeat him, stand at a safe distance from the edges of the platform and hold the B button to charge up your sword. Once your sword is fully charged, release the B button to perform the Whirling Blade technique. Six hits to his tail without falling off the platform will put Moldorm away for good! Always keep your eye on Link's head spaces between the bushes. Work your way up and right toward the palace. As you near the entrance, you will come out of a thicket of brush and find that Kiki the Monkey is following you. Kiki offers to open the door to the palace for a fee of 10 Rupees. Pay him, then quickly walk to the door to allow Kiki to go to work. Avoid monsters while Kiki is following you or he'll run away and you will have to go back and get him. In the next room, stand below the chest and face left. Use either your Boomerang or an Arrow to hit the crystal switch on the platform next to you. Once the blue posts are down, jump across the small gap in front of you and walk through the door on the right. In this room, you will find a button to the right of the staircase. Push a statue on top of the button, then walk up the stairs and go through the door. Here you will find a large, one-eyed statue. Hit the statue in the eye with an Arrow to reveal a secret staircase. After descending the stairs, follow the one-way path left one room, down one room and right one room to a teleport tile. Repeat this until the blue head is defeated. Then, use the Ice Rod on Trinexx's red head to stun it, then hit it with your Sword until it also disappears. Trinexx will then change into a worm-like creature with a flashing circle near the center of its body. Hit the flashing circle three times with the Sword to defeat Trinexx once and for all. Ganon's Tower HOW TO ENTER THE TOWER To enter Ganon's Tower, travel to the top of Death Mountain in the Dark World. Stand in front of the tower. If you have freed all seven maidens from their crystals, they will open the way. TIPS FOR THIS PALACE To get to the ledge in the upper right room of the third floor, you will need to stand below the two blocks with your back to the ledge. Use the Pegasus Shoes to run into the blocks by pressing the A button and you will bounce backwards across the gap to the ledge. DIRECTIONS TO THE BIG KEY To get the Big Key, go to the big room located in the bottom-center portion of the first floor. Use the Ether Medallion to make invisible floor temporarily appear and follow the invisible path to the door in the top-right corner. Go through the door and bomb the cracked sections of the floor in this room. Drop through the hole to find the Armos Knights from the first Pendant Palace. Deja vu! Use your arrows to defeat the Armos Knights and go up one room to retrieve the Big Key. DIRECTIONS TO THE RED ARMOR To get to the Red Armor once you've obtained the Big Key, go back to the big room in the bottom center of the first floor. (This is the room with the invisible bridge.) Walk up the bridge on the left and go up through the door to find the Big Chest. DIRECTIONS TO AGAHNIM To reach Agahnim from the entrance of Ganon's Tower, go up the top-center stairway and work your way up to the sixth floor. Once you're there, you must quickly use the Fire Rod to light the four braziers in the room to open the door at the top, then go through the door before the floor collapses. Work your way left and down until you encounter the Moldorm. Defeat the Moldorm and a chest will appear on the other side of the room. Use the Hookshot to cross the pit and climb the ladder to the upper level of the room. Work your way left and up to a stairway leading to the seventh floor. Once you're on the seventh floor, follow the path to the Big Key door and enter it to find Agahnim. HOW TO DEFEAT AGAHNIM When you fight Agahnim this time, he brings along two friends. You can tell who the real Agahnim is because the other two are slightly hazy. Attack the real Agahnim by using his own magic against him. Swing your Master Sword at the fireballs he throws to reflect their evil power back at his image. Caution: Agahnim will occasionally stand at the top of the room and unleash a gigantic lightning attack. Stand to one side of the wizard to safely avoid it. Once he's gone, you're off to Ganon! HOW TO DEFEAT GANON To defeat Ganon, you must use the Silver Arrows when he is weak. Unfortunately, he isn't a push-over. The battle will be a long and difficult one. Avoid Ganon's attacks while hitting him with your Sword as often as you can. After a while, Ganon will attempt to put out the lights in the room. When this happens, light BOTH pots with your Fire Rod (this is very important!), then hit Ganon with the Sword to turn him blue. Hit him with the Silver Arrows when he's blue, then wait for him to recover. Repeat the process of lighting the braziers and shooting Gannon with the Silver Arrows three more times. Once you've defeated him, you have completed your quest. Congratulations!  How do I find??? Weapons BOW To find the Bow, you must explore the first Pendant Palace thoroughly. Once you're inside the chamber, throw the Bow and Arrow into the pond to receive the Silver Bow and Arrow. The next bottle is also located in the village. Link can walk in the back door of the Inn, which is located in the southeast corner of town, to find a chest containing the bottle. As he swims, he will go under a bridge where a friendly hobo will offer him the third bottle. The last bottle is the most difficult to locate. After Link has had his sword tempered, he must journey to the Gossip Shop (the Blacksmith's Shop in the Dark World) where he will find a locked chest.
