Hylian refers to just the Hylian people-- this is the race of Link and Zelda. It is confusing, yet simple really. http://forums.zelda.com/zelda/board/message?board.id=myst_general&message.id=850 You are all correct. A Link to the Past was chosen because it sounds cool, and because this game theoretically took place in the past of the previously released games. I say theoretically because, as has been discussed in this forum, the timeline is open for discussion. http://forums.zelda.com/zelda/board/message?board.id=myst_general&message.id=610 I wouldn't expect any official confirmations on any of these points. The game developers leave some things vague for a couple of reasons. First of all, I believe that they want people to come up with their own theories on the story. Secondly, they don't want to set anything in stone as it might restrict what they can do in future games. Part of the fun of the Zelda series is the nebulous storyline-- within each game things fit together enough to make a good game story, but are definitely too undefined to fit perfectly with all the other games. http://forums.zelda.com/zelda/board/message?board.id=myst_general&message.id=16483 If I recall correctly, the war was between all of the races of Hyrule... if there were any alliances between them I don't think they were revealed in the game. However, as was pointed out, the Kokiri were not in the war. Anyone who entered the forest would be transformed into a skull kid. I wouldn't put too much stock in any story materials outside of the core games, like the comic series. For the most part these kinds of materials are not reviewed by the game's creators, so they are not always accurate. I'd look at them as "alternate history", or legends.
