No one should get there hopes up about Zelda fighting with that sword. I totally agree with Blade, it looks way more like a knigting sword than anything else.

OO that would be cool...Personaly if this is official art. If the sword only meant giving it to Link ect. Or meaning she doesn't have it very long..Why would they put it in the art? There has to be some purpose for it to be an object in the official image. Oh by the way..it has no reason to do with this..but it matches the colors on her dress.

OK, now you guys got me thinking, but I'll try to keep it short,and by short I mea excruciatingly long. First off, tha is not a RAPIER! A rapier is a light, sharp-pointed sword lacking a cutting edge and used only for thrusting with a cuplike hilt, in which the sword shown has not a cup-like hilt and has TWO edges! She doesn't look ready for battle and although the metal sholder peices look as decorative as the rest of her clothing, but one can assume they'd serve some protection, but as stated earlier, she's not in proper garb for battle and the sholder peices serve no protection against fatal blows. futher more to support Zelda's absence in future battles, the sword is most deffinately a cerimonial one.*pauses for another deep breath*Look at the hilt, it's purple, which is usually considered a royal color, not a battle color, the whole sword is to decorative in general to even be given to Link for him to use. The lower part of th blade is covered in gold. BUT.....I'm probably thinking a LITTLE too much onit

I mean, the only game you can with her was in Super Smash Bro. Melee....and the other ones as well. I just went on a completely different subject, didn't I??

Well, I personally think she'll fight. Why else would she wear CHAIN MAIL under her gloves eh? Think about that too and she could be wearing something underneath that dress. Don't only consider the facts people!

Did it ever occure to any of you that she might have learned how to use the sword so she can protect herself?! Guys aren't the only ones who learn how to use weapons! Maybe this IS a ceremony so she is wearing a dress. Maybe she usually wears something a bit more practical. That makes sence. Also, why are you all so sure that that sword can't be used to fight?! In games like this, They might use magic to strengthen the sword! Like The Green Destiny and Alanna's sword, Lightning!

I must say that realism is definately a positive development in the video game industry, even though I DO like to play the old Atari games made by Atari, Activision, and even Nintendo.

i always loved the dresses Princess Zelda wore i wish you could have the choice 2 be her or Link, but then it wouldn't really be about savin Zelda, would it?

while i'm not a fan of zelda (the character) i like the way she looks in TP. she's really pretty. oh and the whole sword thing, i think it's high time zelda started protceting herself. link always has to save her so he should get a break!

maybe she uses the sword to perform magical attacks like how many ancient magicians used it as a symbol for air maybe she does actually fight with it and powers it with magic so its unbreakable but light. (very unlikely though don't you think? however i do hope you can somehow use Zelda and fight with her or at least witness her fighting with or without link. the sword could actually be like an aimer for magical beams she casts through the sword (yet again that could be unlikely). oh and even though the sword is purple, it could just be a unique feature for a specialized sword that states it is being used and belongs to royalty. yeah i agree with Kavi_Darkwolf it may actuall be a sort of equiptment for magic *prays that its a right presumption*

NO NO NO some of you are half right the other are half wrong that sword is used for fighting and I know who she has to fight but before I tell you Midna isn't Zelda. Ganondorf comes back thanks to Zant but Ganondorf finishs him off. But later in the final battles Ganon as usual has Zelda captive and Midna so he combines them so that she fights you. And that where the sword come from she uses it to fight you. I'm not even joking here people.

I'm not reading any of the previous comments because they're probably spoilers or fan theories. I just wanna say, HOW CAN SHE FIGHT IN THAT DRESS?! XP

Let's Spoil U more! She doesn't fight physically. Ganondorf possesses her and she floats in the air (your basic Ganondorf fight: TENNIS).
