They must've planned back then that the Hyrule Fields would have been a single large space. Now they've been divided in four.

Imagine if the final build of Hyrule field was like that. Either way, the only overworlds that have impressed me more than TP's are Shadow of the Colossus (it may be empty save for a few animals, but it's such a massive, and expansive land), and maybe Okami's (the graphical syle alone would make up for any possible flaws in the overworld)
