Split Natures (wallpaper)
This is a relatively straightforward edit to existing artwork that you can find on Nintendo Power magazines (or so i'm told. i dunno, i got it from zeldalegends). the tricky bit was trying to change the pic's proportions without distorting the subjects. i tried at some length to displace the bottom and top to the sides, but once i did so i realized that it didn't work out as a background.

so i scrapped it and went for the rule-of-thirds appoach you see here, twisting the existing side material backwards so as to give the user some space to put their desktop icons. i also tried to apply the sexy new logo, but i really didn't work colorwise. so i just stuck the name over to the right, mirroring the now-classic Unreal Tournament backgrounds.

So the root subject is not mine, i don't take credit for it, but getting it to work as a background was my effort.

it's not a perfect use of rule-of-thirds (rule of fifths more like) but it works. suggestions are welcome as always.

eh, maybe you should rotate the wolf so it's facing left (with Link facing right). I just think that would look slightly better. Also, the wolf takes up more area than Link, so a) the triforce logo is off-centered and b) there's a lot of empty space on that side, which doesn't work all that well, especially if you have the writing on the other side- it looks slightly too... crowded? I dunno. But it's a good idea, I like it (no, I am not saying it to be nice, either- if I like or don't like something, I say so).

yeah, (...) the whole picture to the left and make the wolf look up more. Kudos anyway. EDIT: I relize that you don't want to cover the pic with icons, but if you want to do that, then just add the same words to the left side that are on the right.

The image is fine Koroks Rock...to me the text is the only thing that stands out. In other words it does not follow the "Zelda theme" here.

meh. i like how my blurb was completely read </sarcasm> the whole idea was to have the hylian crest off to the right, in an attempt to use the rule of thirds. [rule of thirds (also usage of golden rectangle)= off center the subject(s) so that the image falls into three equal portions, which is more visually relaxing than perfect symmetry] i'll remake this, but i'm leaving this version up.

oh. right. well, now that I know what the rule of thirds is... I see what you mean, but I don't know about "visually relaxing"- I tend to like symmetry better. although it would look ok once you had it as a wallpaper and the left side was covered in icons. and by the way, I DID read the blurb. I even understood (most) of it. beat that.

whew. editing the wolf to face left was a small nightmare. i had to butcher it's neck several times just to make it look halfway decent. i'm actually a pretty big fan of asymetrical balance, so i try to use rule of thirds as much as possible.

Wow, haven't been on this site 4 a while it seems like... sorry, but there is something about this pic that just doesn't work... hrm... boat... YEAH TODAY IS THE LAST real DAY OF SCHOOL (those of us who aren't in college yet)...(KR mummble mummble).... *realizes the time...* wow, i need to finish my homework.

I think it's real nice but some of these guys are right the wolf side does take up more of the room then the link side but I think this version is better then the one with the wolf facing straight, this seems to even the sides out alittle more then the other, it's still wallpaper werthy I think---Fyrborn puts on his own desk top-- alot of my wallpapers are link anyway that iv'e been putting on my computer lately anyhow...COOLNESS
