Twilight Princess Sunset
this is an animation of 40 pictures like the one i did before. for anyone who didn't see the other one, this is the sun in the trailers for tp setting. yes, i know it's huge. both the sun and the filesize. And it still goes faster than I wanted it to. and the lighting of the clouds changes sorta abruptly, but that's terragen's fault, not mine

i actually like the lighting on the clouds. doesnt seem to suddenly change or anything like u say
the_ocarina_of_time  [Jun 15, 2005 at 06:59 PM]
actually, its the sky behind the clouds that changes too fast. when about 1/3 of the sun has set.

yes, it's really big. i wish i could do it on flash...maybe i can if i read the help for my freeware flash program.
RICKY  [Jun 15, 2005 at 07:34 PM]
I don't know why but the large ball of light reminds me of Reboot Daemon Rising?? heh, I watch too much CGI!

i like this. I wonder if you can set a "moving background" for a computer. If you could, this would be mine (mine's a sunset anyway, but this is much better AND moving.) keep it up!
Warwing  [Jun 15, 2005 at 09:27 PM]
not bad. I like it .Great job TOOT

i may eventually make a bigger one, but that would mean rendering the landscape 41 times ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!! and that wouldn't be fun. but hey, it's summer, i've got nothing else to do. any suggestions for the land? i didn't know what to do. and I still have that annoying white flash...
dudeofrandomness  [Jun 16, 2005 at 05:46 PM]
maybe (this would take forever) if you rendered the sun going down and then the moon coming up and down and then the sun up and down in a cycle like that, that would be cool. But like i said that would take about 5X longer than this one and the filesize would follow suit.
dude_thats_evil  [Jun 16, 2005 at 10:22 PM]
I love it!!! i can tell u got a lot of time on your hands good job
the_ocarina_of_time  [Jun 16, 2005 at 11:07 PM]
well DOR the problem with that either is that the sun and moon would rise and set in the same place, or the camera would have to move. I guess i could move the camera....that would be hard. well, boring actually. and, i think i said this on the other picture, the moon is actually the sun. but that's not a big problem.
Warwing  [Jun 16, 2005 at 11:57 PM]
Yeah DOR makes a good point. Having Day and Night would be great. maybe you might try a storm.
the_ocarina_of_time  [Jun 17, 2005 at 12:08 AM]
i was thinking about doing a storm. it would work after the green one of before the storm. i don't know if i would animate it though, that would be hard, because you can't just move the clouds. but i do have a plugin that generates raindrop ripples on water...that would help... oh, and i just noticed, depending on what i open this with the speed may be really slow. i kept trying to slow it down, but it didn't work, and i gave up, but by that time it was like a few frames per second or something...really jerky.
Koroks Rock  [Jun 17, 2005 at 06:36 PM]
you could potentially render the landscape in bits, just a few times. there'd be a slight loss of realism, but i think you could handle it. Explaination: render the landscape against a clear sky, sun straight up. render a nice sky against a plain landscape. finally, render your sun. GIF all three images (for transparancy) then splice them together in flash, using alpha and tint tweening to achieve the darkening and reddening effect.

hmm. well, i don't have flash, but i'm considering getting it. i do have eclipse, a freeware flash program, but i haven't gotten around to doing it yet. do you know if it's any good?
Warwing  [Jun 17, 2005 at 07:50 PM]
PerfectIdea came to me . Maybe a solar eclipse could be in Twilight Princess. Why don't you animate the sun slowly being covered by the moon.
the_ocarina_of_time  [Jun 17, 2005 at 08:03 PM]
i think i've said this before, there is no moon in terragen, only a sun that can look like a moon if messed with sufficiently. but, if/when i get flash/figure out eclipse (the program), i could do what KR suggested to make an eclipse (solar)....
Koroks Rock  [Jun 17, 2005 at 10:44 PM]
i've used eclipse, so i couldn't tell you. i don't it's up to the MX standard, but then again few things are. sorry.
the_ocarina_of_time  [Jun 17, 2005 at 11:59 PM]
typing fast? how do you do a simple gif-like thing in MX? what tool or whatever? i'm hoping i can figure out how to do that, because the only animations i'm doing currently are gifs.
dude_thats_evil  [Jul 20, 2005 at 06:42 PM]
actually one thing that the computer failed on... it goes completely dark before the sun is completely gone... like instantly... it still looks amazing!!! but there is that one little problem... very hard 2 notice tho..
the_ocarina_of_time  [Jul 25, 2005 at 01:43 AM]
really? hard to notice? that's actually what i was talking about with the lighting of the clouds in the description
Linkgirl  [Aug 18, 2005 at 01:15 AM]
I like when the day finish, and the sun go out. I like very much your animation....It's very very beautiful
obsessed zelda freak 2  [Aug 18, 2005 at 02:21 AM]
