Update: More Zelda Info

Posted by on Jul 2, 2009
I want to thank my friend Hauu13 for telling me to look up GamePro on the net, which I did and I found this:

"The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda," said Miyamoto, speaking to Wired.com. The next title, announced for 2010 at this year's E3 is short on details at the moment, other than some impressive concept art released during E3. Though it sounds as if the next Zelda requiring MotionPlus is green-lit, Miyamoto also told GI.biz that "The potential for it becoming MotionPlus-only depends of course on how well Wii Sports Resort sells."

If Miyamoto gets his way, we should be able to look forward to the next Zelda packaged with the recently released $20 Wii MotionPlus add-on in 2010.

Let's cross our fingers and pray, hoping we'll get the new Zelda next year, but probably like Twilight Princess and Wind Waker it might end delayed.

Zelda News: Small Interview from IGN

Another interview from IGN, the girl behind Link may NOT be the Master Sword, I Repeat she may NOT be the Master Sword. Please read below.

IGN: At your developer roundtable this week, you showed off a single piece of artwork from the next Wii Zelda game. This piece of art has not yet been released publicly, but we noticed that Link appears to have grown to full adulthood. He looks older than he did in Twilight Princess. Is that a correct assumption?

Shigeru Miyamoto: Well, the story setting for this Zelda is, of course, in a completely different era and Link is older than he was previously. More approaching adulthood. There is one hint. Maybe from the art work you can see that he's not holding a sword.

IGN: Has he lost his Master Sword?

Shigeru Miyamoto: [Laughing] I just wanted to make sure that you understand we are making it. That's all I'm going to say on that subject.

IGN: Does the game follow the story progression of Twilight Princess or is it something completely different?

Shigeru Miyamoto: I can't go into details except to say that it's something completely different.

IGN: You just mentioned that the game audience is shrinking and that Nintendo is always looking for ways to entice new players. Is this something that you're thinking about for the new Zelda, too, or is there a separation where that's off limits because the franchise is traditionally hardcore?

Shigeru Miyamoto: I think we do this with Mario and Zelda as well. When we are working on the plans for them, we are trying to come up with ways where we can satisfy our longtime fans and bring new players into the franchises as well. That's something we're always looking at. However, when I get involved in a title, I focus a lot on more experience and the more advanced gameplay elements. If I get into it, there's a tendency for difficulty levels to ramp up so that's something I really have to watch for myself to make sure that I don't do that.

7:05 p.m.: "There are people who think of Zelda more as an RPG with simpler controls, so trying to figure out how to make everybody happy is something that's going to concern me," says Miyamoto.

7:05 p.m.: "Think of Zelda while you're trying some of the archery and sword play in Wii Sports Resort," Miyamoto say.

7:04 p.m.: "We'd like to make it compatible with Wii MotionPlus. It's quite possible it will be playable only with Wii MotionPlus."

7:03 p.m.: Shows new illustration for the next Zelda for Wii. Nothing to show yet, but it shows an adult link. More grown up than ever before.

6:57 p.m.: He reiterated that Spirit Tracks has a lot of train travel in it.

6:55 p.m.: The phantom runs through a fire that Link cannot access and slides across a trigger point to turn off the flames.

6:54 p.m.: First, he's looking at a standard dungeon. One of the phantoms is on the stage. Link is going to use the character to help him solve puzzles.

6:54 p.m.: He's moving on. To Zelda: Spirit Tracks for DS.

My friend gave me the link from IGN, so I'll try to post it on here.

Google has been promoting a new line of gaming themes for iGoogle. They have themes from a bunch of games including Mega man, Wii Sports, Street Fighter, Spore, Mario, and of course Zelda among others. Just thought I would pass along the news.

Also. I took some time to quickly answer all the questions in the mailbag going back to November. I apoligize if any are overly brief.

I was looking around some Zelda sites and found this....

Recently Edge magazine sat down and interviewed the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto, the head honcho behind most of Nintendo's franchises and The Legend of Zelda. During their time with the videogame designer they discussed various subjects - but mostly the core-gamer hated Wii Music. During this interview, Miyamoto stated again that the next Zelda game is currently being worked on, but he can't go into any further details. The most important bits regarding Zelda from the interview can be found below:

Update: Apologies for the downtime

Our server got hacked on Tuesday, not quite sure what the vulnerability that caused it was. Since this happened twice before in the last month and each attempt at securing the server failed, I had no choice but to get a whole reinstall setup and restore the websites from backup. Hopefully we're safe now!

Update: English Manga!

Hey y'all. You know those scanlated manga pages Zelda Legends host for you? Well the first volume of the Ocarina of Time manga adaptation has been licensed, and will be released in North America on October 7th. For legal reasons, then, we shall remove our scanlated version, and try and do the same in accordance with all manga releases. I hope you enjoyed the scanlations while we had them, but thanks for buying the manga and supporting our favorite series. You ARE going to buy, right? :D
