Chapter 1: Death by a evil hand

A boy by the age of fourteen sat lazily on a hard, wooden barrel with ale inside, staring up at the great stars, all twinkly and bright, yet at night. Was he the only one out tonight? No, there were some pigs and cuccos out tonight. What about human inhabitance? Yes, but only a few merchants dilly-dallying about how much more rupees they have then their competitors. But no regular, everyday commoners like him. There was his elder sister but she wasn't human, she was a, a-

"Beast," He finished his thought out loud. A sixteen-year-old with short black hair that went from her ears to the back of her neck in a slash turned around. She gave him a disgust look and turned back to her drawing. What was she drawing? He strained his neck over to where he could see the notebook paper. He held his laughter; it was her boyfriend and her kissing with a large heart over them. But he had to admit, it was an amazing job. Maybe she would draw for a living.

"Hey, Sada? Could I have a piece of that, uh, delicious, mouth-watering, red fruit we call the wonderful apple," He asked descriptively, half in a trance. The girl addressed glanced at the shiny red fruit in the masterly hand-woven basket beside her. She was planning something; she would never let him have anything for free!

"Why can't you be that descriptive in school, egg head? Anyway, Misa, if you want this, you're going to have to beg like a dog, literally," She conditioned, a devious look on her remotely pretty face. The boy sighed and groaned. He stuck out his pink tongue, sat on the ground, and whimpered like a dog, a feeling of humiliation swirling inside him. Although, for food, he'd do ANYTHING! His sister, Sada, giggled and held the apple at his pointy nose. She took it off and smirked that evil smirk that probably meant something along the lines of, “I’m not giving you this until you earn it the way I want." Misa knew it.

"Okay, Misa, if you want it so bad, doggie, go- FETCH!" She commanded throwing the apple down a dark ally way. Misa growled like a dog, this made Sada laugh hysterically. Misa rolled his red eyes and dashed after the juicy fruit. He wanted to take the apple and chuck it at her face, but his mother would kill him; she always chose her daughter's side, after all, Misa wasn't REALLY her son, not by blood anyway.

Misa ran down the surprisingly long ally way, were all dark crannies this big?! Finally, he reached the dead end. But where in Hyrule was that apple? He couldn't see it; he knew she threw it here, didn't she? If that were true, where could it have gone? Did it grow legs out of its useless brown stem and run away, avoiding being digested? If fairies existed, an apple could run away, sounds logical, right? Suddenly, the red and black haired kid heard the crunch of something hard and solid. He spun on his brown booted heels and saw a shadowy figure. He glanced at his hand; HIS APPLE! That crook stole his hard-earned food!

"Hey, dude, that's my apple, I kinda earned it!" Misa uttered, his fists tight, the black gloves around them making a stretch sound. The man straightened his dark tunic and examined the apple. He glared at the boy, hatred red verses childish red.

"I don't see your name on it," He hissed in a low tone, another low voice in unison with it. Misa gulped, his back had and eerie feeling snaking down it when the man's voice reached his pointy ears. He took another bite of the apple in spite, glaring at the boy with his blood red eyes. Misa took a step back. The man smirked, showing his should've been bloody teeth- scratch that- fangs.

"What, are you scared. That's a precious feeling, and you've got a reason to feel it. Soon, everyone will feel it, even your so-called-wonderful queen, “The shadowy man grinned devilishly, mumbling the last part to him. Misa stepped forward back to his original position.

"I'm not," Misa denied. The man glared at him again.

"Oh, your not, are you. How about after this?" He asked. Suddenly two dark portals appeared on the red-bricked wall, tow stalphoses- stalphie, is it? - jumped out. The hard no skin, just a spear and a large grey shields. They circled around him, smiling with their boney faces.

"N-N-N," Misa tried.

"N-N-N- Yeah? Admit it, you're terrified, “The man commanded him to confess. Misa shook his head and tried to stop his trembling body, but, if truth be told, he was petrified. He knew what monsters were capable of, not to mention what they would do to his body after being murdered!

"I'M NOT SCARED!" Misa yelled, deigning the truth. The shadow man laughed and tossed the apple to the other end of the tunnel. The stalphie-or stalphoses- dashed after it, leaving their master alone again with Misa. The man leaned over to Misa's ear and opened his mouth, spit inside going for one fang to the other.

"You're brave, just like a certain hero I used to know," He whispered in two voices, the words echoed in his head.

"You knew the last hero? Yeah, I drought that is true, he died a hundred years ago," Misa denied. The man leaned in more and laughed.

"1. You mean murdered. And 2. You don't even know how old I am," He pointed out. Misa gulped, the man was right, Misa learned from the textbooks that the hero of winds had been murdered by human hands, but authorities never caught him. This man could be... No, impossible. The man stepped away from him and began to leave, stopping when he heard Misa growl.

"Growling like a dog? Why not be a dog? Why not have the life of a wolf. Why not be a loner like a wolf. I'll be sure to mention you to Master Ganondorf.

"You don't know him, you ganon-worshiper,"Misa mumbled to himself. The man kept walking, laughing as he disappeared. Misa gasped and "aaw"'d when he saw that! Suddenly he saw his sister, how could she blend in? She was wearing that sleeveless black shirt and a skirt that was just long enough for her fingers to touch the end of it, the out fit completed with knee-high boots. No girl in this entire land that was once covered in ocean would wear that!

"Hey, egg head, why were you down here so long? Uh, why are you looking at me like that?" She asked, weirded out. Misa shook his facial expression off and put his hands in his jean's pockets and strolled away in deep thought. She dashed after him and waved her perfect hand over his calm face. Misa continued to walk. Soon, they were back on the streets of market city, the streets still empty, the moon shining over the city, illuminating shadows from them and the buildings.

"Hey, Misa, we should probably get home before Mom has a "panic attack"," She said mocking their mother. Misa laughed and nodded, they headed to the town square and from there went to a little door off to the side. By there were a bunch of tables with colorful doilies. They entered the dark door and went to the mirror like usual, like any normal day after work. They were expecting their mother to come down stairs with her green hat on and ask them how their day was. But they didn't hear anything. That was strange, but she could've been sleeping after working so hard on her own job. Being a waitress for a busy coffee company in the winter didn't seem hard, especially when their mom did it, but it was tough and exhausting.

"Hmmm, that's strange, but she's probably sleeping, I'm going upstairs to ask her what she wants, can you make some spaghetti and meatballs?" Sada instructed her younger brother, Misa nodded and went off to the dark kitchen. Sada ran up stairs, which made her legs ach after work, and knocked on her mom's door. No answer. Sada opened the door, it creaked open ominously. She took out a match box from the nightstand and lit it. She put the flame in the rusty lantern and her eyes adjusted. Suddenly, she was petrified, her heart stopped, and her black eyes burst open. She screamed and fainted in shock from the horrible sight of what she saw.

As Misa began putting the spaghetti in the pot he heard a distressed scream coming from upstairs. He put everything down and ran upstairs, his legs aching from his job as well. He saw his sister on the floor, unconscious. He rushed over to her and tried to call her awake. He glanced over at his mother's room and saw why his elder sister had screamed. His mother was- she was- who did- she was dead! And not just a quick and peaceful death in her sleep, but a horrible murder. Someone had chopped her head off, slit her wrists, cut off her toes, stabbed her in her stomach, and chopped off her nails. Blood was all over, dripping from the bed and all over the floor. Their mother was tortured! Misa couldn't talk; his only words were chopped up like his mother. His eyes were wide open, but he couldn't move.

"Sister, are you awake? Are you okay? Please don't leave me, I n-need you. Please don't leave me all alone, please come back," Sada heard her brother cry out for her. She thought she opened her eyes but she couldn't see, it was all dark. She grabbed her brother's caller and pulled his face close to hers.

"Brother, are m-my eyes open? She asked him. Misa grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight.

"Yes, Sister, they are open. I think you've gone blind in t-trauma," He said sadly, remembering the horrific murder of their beloved mother they had both witnessed. They both began to sob, they fell asleep together.

The next morning, the bright sun's rays seeped through the curtains and pierced their eyes. Sada shook her brother awake, sniffing as well. They got off the couch and stared at the upstairs door. Misa took his gaze off and went in the kitchen, he found a letter. He called his sister in and read: [i] Dear boy I met in the ally,

By now, you must have seen the consequences of messing with the dark lord and his underling. I hope you enjoyed Ganondorf's little show, I also notice what happened to your sister, which was expected. Maybe next time you see me you'll pay me some respect!

Sincerely: Dark Link, the shadow prince and future ruler of this land, shhh, don't tell your queen!" Misa burned the paper and took out his book bag. He put a couple changes of cloths, food of fruit and some raw meat, and a blade that glowed with the lust to be used in battle. He zipped it and flew it on his broad shoulders. He helped Sada do the same. She did ponder the fact why they were going to leave but she knew to stay away from her brother when he was upset and in rage.

Misa and Sada were soon out of the gates of market city, out on Hyrule field.
