Chapter 1: To Catch the Moon

The hero drifts through lonely lands,
As random as the shifting sands,
A friend he searched for, far and long.

He found the world that was The End,
That world he needed to defend,
From evil slipped it’s prison strong.

The masked one sought to use his might,
To crush the world all in one night;
The moon, he thought, would fit his scheme.

The hero did not like that thought;
But Naryu knew he’d never fought
A mask as strong as this was deemed.

“I’ll lend my song to you,” she said,
“You shall return to days long fled,
Time answers to the tune you play.”

The hero knew he could not face,
The moon himself; the bravest race,
Might feel the urge to run away.

The hero needed friends-and soon!
Allies who could catch the moon;
Companions fearless, true-and tall!

This world was soft and truth be told,
Weak as a child not ten years old;
Only Giants would hear his call.

He started with the wooden race;
Woodfall was their holiest place,
There the giants taught him their tune.

A thousand winters next he braved,
Cored with fire, it blew and raved;
A second joined to stop the moon.

Next, in the endless sea he plunged,
A dread pollution to expunge;
Another friend had now arizen.

Olden spirits groaned their pains,
In castles high above the plains,
The last ally he broke from prison.

His Giant-friends; to him they strode,
When on that night, he played their Ode;
For him they caught the plunging face.

And once again he faced the Fiend,
And killed him as the world did dream,
Unknowing, as he saved their race.

The battle done, he faced the trail,
But now he knew he’d never fail,
In questing for his long-lost friend

For though friends may be far apart,
A friend is always close at heart.
He’d learned this lesson at Worlds End.

That's so nice. You did a really good job with this. Has an excellent flow to it and remains relevant even in its whimsy.

good stuff - I like it quite a lot.
