no, at that point in the story he is running around with a stick. And he only has that stick cuz he is going to show some guys some sword moves so that they will let that little girl and he gets its from a guy in the town, and to get it he has to sneek up on him and steal it without the man knowing, or else the man wont give him the sword - dont ask, i know it sounds odd. But it is in fact something like that
