Nabooru
I finally got around to creating a Nabooru fanart piece and I must say that I am extremely proud of how this one turned out. My goal was to make a much better Nabooru picture than the official art of her for OoT, and I think I achieved it. ^__^ The only thing that gripes me about this picture is the quality of it after I uploaded it to the browser. The .gif file was better than the .jpg and .bmp files, but barely. Please display it in its larger version to get the whole picture, despite the off quality.

Note: I drew her so that she does not look exactly like the official art, but in my own style. I thought the official art looked too unproportioned and awkward, and so made Nabooru look more human, lol.

i'd suggest making the pants and swords a bit larger and her arms and belly a bit thinner. Nabooru had a very feminine figure.

The thing is, the official art made her look very unproportioned and way too thin, even for the average female. I decided to make her body in the likes of a real human being, thickness wise, instead of a disoriented and extremely off looking woman. I made her in my own view, not to be just like the official art. ^_^.

still, the legs aren't quite inproportion with the rest of her. if you're going for a realistic look, the legs need to be longer, and her hands a bit bigger.

don't worry about him, he just points out every problem there is. actually, i do too, but i'm not that good at spotting them . i think it's very well done, though KR's right, the legs should be a little longer. and i guess the wrists should be thicker, though i wouldn't have seen that on my own. you definitely got the freaky makeup right, although actually in the game the lipstick is white... freaky. her ears look sorta weird, but actually ears look really weird in real life, plus i imagine they're really hard to draw, so i guess you shouldn't be held responsible for the weirdness of the human ear. and i don't know what KR's talking about with the swords, i think they're the perfect length. and well done, too. overall, i think this compares to some of the best pics in the gallery. all right, it isn't quite as good as those of, for example, magalink, but the fact that you're even being compared to her is a compliment by itself.

about the quality, there isn't really a noticable problem. i tried converting it to jpeg, and i didn't see a problem there either. if possible (it depends on what program you use to convert it), use a higher quality jpeg. if all else fails, (all else being jpeg format) use png. it was designed to surpass gif, and it does, in both quality and filesize. bmps are the highest quality possible, but this picture in bmp format is almost 2 MB, which aside from costing the site money will take 5 minutes to download on a 56K modem (the slowest standard speed).

good job nabs. i like that you did something different and drew her the way you like her. =) good job!

actually toot, the slowest standard speed nowadays is 28 K, which is rare legacy hardware, but it's still around. i have an old laptop i carry around school (mostly as a giant gameboy) that has a 28k onboard modem. anyhow, back to the pic, the swod blades should be about the length on the bearer's arm, or in the case of most scimitars, about wrist-to-opposite shoulder length. the blades shown aren't that long. however, it's a trivial detail, one which the games themselves ignore- they make the blades too large

i've heard of 28 K before, but doubted that anybody would be foolish enough to purchase it........ (i typed this whole comment one handed....it was hard...)
