Arriving back at Mabe Village, Link found the villagers in a panic. While Link was gone, a gang of Moblins had come to the village. Link found out from Madam MeowMeow that her BowWow had been dognapped by Moblins. Link, taking the hint dropped by the owl, headed north to Goponga Swamp. He entered a suspicious-looking cave, and discovered that it was the Moblin hideout. After fighting a mob of Moblins, Link reached the Moblin King. Fearing that Link was an assassin sent by Madam MeowMeow to rescue the mutt, the king attacked Link. The Moblin's charge attack left him vulnerable when he crashed into walls, and Link was soon able to beat him and rescue the pooch.

Link brought the BowWow back, but Madam MeowMeow asked him if he could also walk her dog. The BowWow was helpful, eating enemies along the way, so Link agreed. He took the dog back to Goponga Swamp. Searching through the swamp, Link found an entrance, but it was blocked by tough, leathery swamp flowers. He couldn't cut them down with his sword, but the BowWow ate them for him. Leaving the dog outside, Link entered the Bottle Grotto.

Link searched through the dungeon, looking for another Instrument, but found a Hinox first. He stayed away from the cyclops' bombs, and it was soon defeated. Continuing on, Link found a Power Bracelet, which allowed him to lift heavy objects. The second Nightmare that Link had to face was a fire-throwing genie. Link picked up the genie's vase, and threw it against the wall, breaking it. The genie, now exposed, made a replica of himself and circled around Link. Link knew which one was real and attacked it, and the genie was conquered. Link took hold of the Conch Horn, and before he was transported back to the swamp a voice told him to go to the prairie.

Link returned the BowWow to Madam MeowMeow, and in return he got a big smooch!
