Link Sneaks into Kanalet Castle

Link headed east across Ukuku Prairie, lifting rocks that got in his way with the Power Bracelet. Link found an entrance to a dungeon, but it was locked by a keyhole marked "Slime Keyhole." Nearby was a mansion, identified by a sign as "Richard's Villa." Talking to Richard, Link found out that he had once lived in Kanalet Castle, but his servants had gone berserk and he was forced to flee to his villa. He had left five Golden Leaves behind, and Link offered ro retrieve them in exchange for the Slime Key.

When Link reached Kanalet Castle, the only entrance into the castle was barred. Walking around, Link found a monkey named Kiki, who wanted some bananas that Link had. Link gave him the bananas, and to repay him, a bunch of monkeys appeared and built a bridge across the moat for Link. One stick was left behind, and Link picked it up, thinking it might be useful later. Once across the bridge, Link found a secret entrance into the castle under a bush.

Now that Link was inside the castle walls he began his search. One bomb-throwing guard dropped a Golden Leaf when Link defeated him. A raven was hiding another Golden Leaf, and Link threw a rock at it to get it to drop it. Link went inside the castle, and in the first room he defeated guards and a Golden Leaf dropped from the ceiling. A knight was sealed in a wall, and Link bombed the wall to get him free. The knight attacked him, and dropped a Golden Leaf when defeated. In the last room, Link fought a Ball and Chain Trooper, who dropped a Golden Leaf when he was beaten. It was time to see Richard about that key...

Richard thanked him, and, moving a box aside, let Link recover his reward. It was not easy, for Link had to cut down bushes to reveal a maze of bottomless pits and solid ground. At last Link reached a new area, but there was nothing there. Using a shovel he had bought, Link dug around, and at last found the Slime Key. Link placed this key into the Slime Keyhole, and with a rumble the entrance to the Key Cavern was opened.

Link explored the cavern, and after a while stumbled across two Dodongo Snakes. These creatures of legend would eat anything, even bombs. Link in a dungeon Link fed them bombs, and they exploded. In the next room Link found another useful artifact, the Pegasus Boots, which allowed him to run faster, jump farther, and perform a dash attack with his sword. Link explored the cavern until he found the lair of the next Nightmare, Slime Eyes. Using the Pegasus Boots, Link split the monstrous slime ball into two eyes, and was then able to defeat each one individually. His reward was the Sea Lily's Bell. After hearing the bell's sweet tinkling, Link was warped outside. He heard the voice again, telling him to look the in the waterfall...

Link was warped outside the Key Cavern and was about to leave for the waterfall. All of a sudden the owl flew in from nowhere and said that when Link would play the Instruments in front of the Egg, the Wind Fish would wake and Link would leave this island. The owl told him to hasten to the Yarna Desert, where the dark, monstrous inhabitants of the sand would show him the way.
