Update: Aonuma Listens

Posted by on November 19, 2009

Well apparently someone has been listening to everyone arguing and fighting over the girl behind Link saying she's a Fairy or his sword. Those who said she's his sword. Are correct.

"You will have to wait until next year when we can elaborate on this and many other things. But what I can tell you is that yes I have read some of the speculation, and some of it is right! That is all I can say at the moment." - Eiji Aonuma

Well at least that's the end of that fight, it's confirmed that she is his sword. Wonder how she'll look or if she transforms into his sword.... we'll have to wait for some more information.

Allendra says:

Whoa, seriously! Cool! She certainly looked like it, but I didn't think the fans' first guess would be right!

Amy122 says:

I know what you mean. I thought she was just a fairy because when Twilight Princess was coming out everyone on the Nintendo fourms thought Midna was the sword.

Allendra says:

Haha, they did? I saw someone who commented on one of Midan's first pics (maybe on YouTube . . ?) that thought she was a guy! lol

Amy122 says:

lol, I never went around on Youtube back then, I was mostly on the Nintendo forums.

Ganondorfs-Girl says:

Well, he hasn't completely said if she is or not. For all we know, the speculation about her being the Fairy Queen is what he could be talking about! To be honest, I think she's both. What if instead of the Fairy Queen just enhancing Link's weapons with fire/ice, she decides to empower the master sword with herself? This could mean there must be a massive quest for Link to overcome.

I guess we'll just have to wait until next year before we'll know. smile.gif

Amy122 says:

@_@ your right about that girl, and sorry to hear you got an artist-block on DA.

Xander says:

WTF? He doesn't confirm anything.

He just said that some of the speculation is right. But he doesn't say anything about her being the sword.

Amy122 says:

Maybe you need to look on other sites about something like that...

Swordsman289 says:

Hmm...maybe the girl is some sort of entity that the sages created while making the Master Sword. Perhaps the next game will include the full history of the Master Sword. However, I'll just have to wait to find out.

andy198 says:

the master sword is different or different shaped in every zelda game there has been so far

Amy122 says:

Andy is right, look back at Link to the Past it was different, the in Ocarina of time and Wind Waker, then Twilight Princess. They were all different who knows the one in the next Zelda Wii game it may be different too.

Allendra says:

I'm not sure about the older games, but even though there are subtle differences the design for the Master Sword is basically the same.

Amy122 says:

That's true too.

zen_blade says:

I really hope that the fairy isn't really the Sword or turns into the sword. Maybe she's the spirit of the sword or something?

Allendra says:

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I dont' think they'd have her shape shift back and forth.

andy198 says:

i have all of the zelda games so i would know
the master sword may look the same in ocarina of time and twilight princess but they are not
wink.gif

Amy122 says:

Same I have them all except the two on the DS.

Allendra says:

Yes, like I said, it's basically the same. Not the same, but more or less.

DragoonCody says:

Hey is that e-mail working should we send you news tips that way?

Amy122 says:

E-mail? You mean mine? If so then please do so that would help just e-mail it to me on yahoo that's my main e-mail.

bluejx23 says:

I come back after 3 months and the girl behind Link is STILL the main discussion. Aonuma needs to give us a little more to go on. l;T_T.gif

Cool stuff Amy's dug up, though. Thanks for the info.

linkwolf48 says:

wow lol, my first bet was navi/fairy and i was like 0_0 oh noes

Turless says:

For some reason I really enjoy the idea of there being some type of sentience to the Master Sword. In most of his recent adventures, Link HAS typically been accompanied by a guide of some kind; how conveniant for it to be the very spirit of his weapon!
Also, the aesthetics of the Master Sword don't matter too much, since nowhere in any of the games is it indicated that there could possibly be more than one. I think it is safe to say that the Master Sword is the same in every game. And if it has some sentience to it, that would actually explain why it has the ability to change its minor details, as is shown in Wind Waker.
Anyway, I definitely agree that more news would be nice. We're starving from lack of knowledge! sad.gif

Allendra says:

I agree, I think it would be so very cool!
