Chapter 1: True Love at Last.
“Link?” The young warrior looked up as Princess Zelda, smiling nervously, entered his room. Her long, curly blonde hair shone golden in the last few rays of the setting sun.
“Hi, Z-Zelda,” stammered Link, jumping to his feet and rubbing his hand anxiously at the long, blonde fringe dangling in front of his blue eyes. “Are you alright?” Zelda smiled and nodded.
“Yes… I think so.” I wish he was mine, Zelda thought sadly, gazing at Link. Ever since she had first met the boy, she had been in love with him. And now, seven long years later, her father was pressuring her to marry. But she only wanted Link… and she was positive, with her heart and soul, that Link did not love her back.
“Good. Um… how’s, um, your new horse?” A horse, Link cringed. He was talking to the love of his life about a horse. He wished she loved him back. But the King was pressuring Zelda about marriage, so she obviously was waiting for some fairy tale prince to come along and snap her up. He had loved her ever since he first saw her spying on Gannondorf through the window in her private garden. And every day since. But why would a rich, beautiful and wise princess want to marry a poor boy who happened to be handy with a sword? No reason at all, Link thought gloomily, tucking a strand of hair behind his pointed ear. Zelda watched as Link tucked hair behind his ear in the way she loved so much, and thought her heart would burst with joy.
“You’ve got lovely hair, Link.” Uh-oh. Without realising it, Zelda stepped towards Link and started playing with a strand of his hair. She was closer to him now than she had ever been to him before, she marvelled, seeing the pale freckles on his nose, counting each of his blonde eyelashes. He gazed deeply into his sapphire eye, and instantly knew that he knew of her love. First his eyes widened with amazement. Then joy. Then- oh praise the golden goddesses!- love. Then, suddenly, their arms wrapped around each other, her lips found his, they collapsed backwards on to Link’s bed and were lost in a sea of passionate love and joy.
“Link… do you love me?” Zelda whispered, turning on her side, her arm draped lazily over Link's naked torso.
“You know I do.”
“Do you promise to love me forever?”
“Yes, of course.” Smiled Link, stroking the sooth, peachy skin of Zelda’s cheek. She smiled at him wearily, then got up.
“What is it?”
“Come with me, my love. There is something I should have shown you long ago.”
