Chapter 2: Paper Maze

Note: I'm using dashes ( - ) to signal a thought. ex. - (thought) -.

Link looked excitedly around at the Japanese style paper houses that dotted Okami Village as he followed the wolf up a winding path. Before Link knew it, he and his lupine companion arrived on the steps of house 01. Or rather, mansion 01. The building was far too big to be merely a house.
Link was about to knock on the door when the wolf reached up and somehow managed to turn the doorknob and open the door. Link peered into the house before stepping in. The wolf closely followed, and started wiping its paws on a little mat that was off to the side of the narrow entry hall. Link was about to step up into another hall when he felt a tug on his tunic.
“What’s wrong?” asked Link. The wolf nosed at another mat, on which there was a couple pairs of shoes.
“What, am I supposed to take off my boots?” The wolf nodded. Sighing, Link sat on the step and pulled off his boots. He then placed them next to the shoes.
The wolf jumped onto the step and began to walk down one end of the hall. Link followed the wolf around several corners, through a few sliding screen doors and up a flight of steps. –Wow! I figured this place was big, but it’s like a maze in here! - They made their way through another hallway, then stopped in front of another pair of screens.
“Why are we stopping?” Link asked as he stared at the screens.
Something then came over Link. He figured that he didn’t feel it before, because he was a bit preoccupied with trying to catch up with the wolf. But now, while he was waiting, he felt a feeling of familiarity wash over him. –I’ve never been here before… have I? No… not even in my dreams… so why? Why does this place feel so familiar to me? - Link’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a sharp bark from the wolf. –What the… I didn’t know wolves barked!-
A man’s voice replied from the other side of the screen.
“Yes, Koichi, come in!”
The wolf pushed open the screen and walked into a dimly lit room, and lay on a mat. An old man, who had appeared to be meditating in front of a shrine, turned around, not, as Link had expected, to face the wolf, but rather, to face Link.
“Welcome home, Alpha-Child Link.”

Koroks Rock says:

Blank space between each paragraph, otherwise good.

achitka says:

Door knobs....japanese style village...oh my and just for the record - wolves don't bark...they growl, yip, whine and howl...but never bark, it's part of what makes them wolves, not dogs...but whatever.

Otherwise it's good that Link feels at home.

LinksLove says:

Ummm... These wolves, um, can... bark... Actually, I really wasn't sure if wolves could bark or not. So thanks for the brief list of sounds that wolves DO make! It will really come in handy later on.

star_breaker says:

i'm befuddled... phones in Zelda? Japansese style-paper mansions? HHHEEELLLPPP!!! (otherwise, very good!)

LinksLove says:

Hey, whats wrong with the phones and paper houses!?...Well, I can see how phones might be a little...weird, but the houses?
